I Designed Thank You Card and A Freebie Sticker

Whenever someone ordered from me, I used to include a handwritten thank-you card in their package. These cards were made from simple blue handmade paper, with a short thank-you message, my brand name, and my Instagram ID written on the front.

Over time, I made around 75–100 of these cards and used them for online orders and at my first exhibition. However, after a while, I felt the need to make them more elegant and professional. Handwriting each card was time-consuming and I wanted something prettier and more polished.

I started looking for inspiration from small businesses I follow online. Many of them included beautiful thank-you cards with their orders and I loved the idea of adding a postcard-sized thank-you card along with a freebie sticker as a token of appreciation for my customers.

I sat down to design the thank-you card and came up with a simple yet effective layout: my brand name on the front, a thank-you message, my social media handles, website link, the name of the customer and a blank space to stick the freebie sticker.

Initially, I wasn’t sure what kind of freebie sticker to design. One evening, after dinner, I was sitting in the living room with my tablet, jotting down random ideas while my mom watching her daily TV serials. Nothing seemed to click at first.

Then, I thought about my business and why I love making journals. That’s when the phrase “Journaling is My Thing!” came to mind. It felt just right – a perfect message for journaling enthusiasts.

I created a simple sticker design, coloring each letter with shades inspired by the covers of the journals in my shop. The sticker turned out vibrant and personal, reflecting the essence of my brand.

Once the thank-you card and sticker designs were ready, I placed an order for them along with a few other stickers for packaging—one featuring my brand name and another reminding customers to handle the journal with care while unboxing.

A couple of weeks later, the package arrived. Everything looked amazing, except for one issue: the “Journaling is My Thing!” stickers had been printed on a single sheet instead of individually cut pieces. I had accidentally selected the wrong category while ordering. So, I spent time cutting each sticker by hand with scissors.

Despite the minor hiccup, the thank you cards turned out fantastic. The postcard size was perfect. It even looks great as a wall decoration above my work table where I make journals.

And that’s the story of how I designed my first thank-you cards and freebie sticker. I’ve also made a video showing the full process of packing an order with these new supplies, which you can watch [here].
